A Novel Change is a sweet and wholesome short clean romance, with lovable down-to-earth characters, a little pinch of tragedy, a sprinkling of classic romance tropes and of course the happily ever after! City-girl moves to the country and meets up with a grumpy(ish) lonely cowboy. She doesn't want to break his heart, he doesn't want to share his - yet they are drawn to each other anyway.
Emma was a daydreamer, born to put pen to paper as a romance
novelist. A steadfast city-girl, she's in her element in all the hustle
and bustle.
When she finds herself the subject of media attention for all the wrong reasons, she takes her best friend Sophie's advice to move into her cottage on a small farm in the country to wait for the scandal to die down. However, Sophie won't be there, and Emma won't be alone. Sophie's older brother shares the cottage, a no-nonsense country boy who doesn't appreciate having his peace and quiet spoiled by having a stranger move in. Especially not some fancy city-girl who wastes her days writing soppy love stories. Can she win over the grumpy cowboy? Does she even want to?
Liam is a simple man of the land and tragically already a widower at his young age. He wants nothing more than to potter around his sister's farm as he comes to terms with the grief of losing his beloved wife and unborn child. The intrusion of his sister's friend is unwelcome and uncomfortable - She has no business being so damned pretty and messing with the peaceful cocoon he'd created for himself. It might be time he moved on and allowed himself to love again, but surely not with the city-girl with glitter nails who will only be around for a short time.

Content Warnings
Emma finds out she's pregnant before the two have had a chance to discuss having children and while they are living together unmarried. The sections involving her pregnancy (which is wanted by both) deals with Liam dealing with his trauma from losing his child in his previous marriage.
The book does not state whether or not they are married by the time the child is born (although Liam has proposed, so it can be interpreted that they have or have not - depending on your preference)
Emma gives birth on the side of the road on the way to the hospital, with Liam having to deliver it - being scared to do so given he lost a previous child in childbirth. The scene does not have graphic content and is more centred on Liam's distress and fears.
(The delivery is a smooth success and everything is fine!)
Emma has conflicted feelings over whether to choose Liam or Sam. At a point in the story there is one instance where she spends the day with Sam and an unplanned night with Liam (which Sam does not discover until the next morning) - creating an overlap where it could be considered that she cheats on Sam by having an intimate night with Liam.
Emma and Liam do not have sex that night, but they establish an intimate relationship that solidifies her decision to choose Liam. The three of them civilly discuss the situation afterwards.
